Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Frost

Happy Thanksgiving! Or rather the day after as it's Friday but yesterday was spent cooking, eating and playing games with the family. It was actually are pretty darn good day for our clan. No ones feelings got hurt, we all ate everything and we had a blast playing Bunco, cards and Trivia. In our house family fun nights happened often and still to this day, we go to my Sisters house to have dinner and play games. All 10 of us sit around the table sharing a meal and talking then we have fun with a board game or cards. Not many families do this nowadays and I'm thankful that my Mom and Gran did this with us and we can teach my Sisters kids how to have fun with their family. It'll be really interesting when they have grown and have families of their own and we all come together for Thanksgiving. Black Friday is a strange thing. Do they have things like this in other countries? Probably not. Only in American can you stand in line for hours to fight over a big screen TV. I natu

People Choice Awards and a little ranting.

First of it's Peoples Choice Awards time! If you do not know what I'm referring to I'll give you all the links at the end of the post. So this time of year the Supernatural Fandom goes CRAZY with voting for the PCA's. We won last year for Favorite SicFi TV Show and Favorite Fan following. This year the show is nominated for Best Bromance, Best SciFi TV Show and Best ScifFi Actor. I have been blowing up my Twitter and facebook with votes and I'm pretty sure some of my facebook friends think I'm crazy lol Sorry faceboook people! I just really want Supernatural to win. It's an awesome show whom does not get enough credit for what it dose, where it's been and where it's going. We love this show for a reason: It's fucking awesome. If you have never watch Supernatural you need to my friends. It's scary, sexy, funny, dramatic and heartwarming. The fandom is a little crazy but we love our show and our Boys. So check out Supernatural on the PCA'

iPhone, Blogging Anniversary!

I got an iPhone!? What! Yes I did. I finally joined in with the rest of my generation and got myself an iPhone. I kind of made a fool of myself in the phone store as we had went in right when the opened to get an iPhone 5s/c and I was set. I had the money and the excitement until the lady who works there told me that I did not in fact, have enough money to get the new one. I was thrown for a loop. I had spent a few weeks reading up on the iPhone5 and all that went along with it. Then she tells me that all the hard work I did saving up the money and all my "learning" was for not. I just wanted to run away and hide and cry. She did say they had iPhone4s in and was eligible to get one for 1cent. Yes just a penny. I was all puffed up by then and said no I don't want it. Lets go. So I went on about my morning in a huff but at breakfast all of my gears slowed down and the rage in my head cleared and I could think. I made a few phone calls and did some more reading and with my h

Halloween, Failure and Chocolate.

Happy Halloween! Or if you are a Wiccan/Pagan like me who celebrates the New Year Sabbat; Blessed Samhain! This year like for the past 10 years we (the family and I) went to our local downtown celebration. Vendors set up on the street to hand out candy and have fun free games kids can play. Trick-or-treating in this rural town is almost impossible to do door to door so the City came up with this Downtown thing and it's worked out pretty good. Other then there are more people then vendors so it doesn't last as long as it should. Plus it's a little redneck-i-fied. So anyway I got all Sassed up and help my Sisters kids get their Spooky gear on and we walked around for about an hour. It was all I could do not to have a panic attack with all the screaming children running amuck. I felt very much like The Sanderson Sisters but I looked freaking sass-tastic and did have some fun. I did not however get to have a full blow Samhain ritual like I wanted but still felt the Spir

Harvest Moon

It feels like Autumn today! It was a crisp 45 degrees while I sat on the porch swing with a steaming cup of coffee. I shivered while watching the dogs while the crows sang and the sun rose! It was wonderful!  Last night was the Full Moon and it was amazing. My good camera had a dead battery and my little camera was not powerful enough to get a good picture. This was the best out of all the ones I took. It was so bright and just stunning.  Just a short little blog post today. Ta for now, Kayla

Tis The Season of The Witch

Image
I just finished watching Episode One and Two of American Horror Story: Coven. Wow. It was perfect. From start to end I was glued to my TV it was creepy and gross and just awesome! They even intertwined Stevie Nicks into the story line and played her music. Can't wait for next weeks new episode! I am loving Autumn this year. There is a Lunar Eclipse coming with this months Full Moon. Samhain is just a couple of weeks away. It's a cool crisp 65 degrees in my room. There is a murder of Crows in the woods the surrounding my house and they sing every morning. I heard an Owl last night and yesterday afternoon I saw two young Bobcats not a mile from the house. Tis a been a right fine October. Ta for now, Kayla

Paranormal is the new Normal.

Image
Okay y'all know I loves me some Paranormal stuff and I am so excited that "mainstream" TV and movies have finally caught on and the good stuff has just hit the floor! I wasn't around in the Buffy days and just caught the end of Angle (swoon) and was hooked on Charmed but it seams like the Paranormal genre has come out blazing and it's awesome. Comic Cons are the hip thing to do and being a Geek is a complement. It's nice to see the public embrace the preternatural and I'm proud to say I'm part of it. So much good stuff on TV! The new Lifetime series Witches of East End started off with a bang and I am already in love with it. You know I fangirl over Supernatural and the Season 9 opener was perfect. I hope this season brings on many, many more. I missed the American Horror Story: Coven premier but have it set to record. Gonna have to check out Dracula and I may just have to get True Blood and The Vampire Dairies on DVD. New season of Ghost Hunters has

New Moon Cleansing, Tarot and Gravestones

Image
If you don't know I am a Wiccan. Last night was a New Moon meaning it was Dark and changing from Waning to Waxing and tis the perfect time to let things go, cleanse your space and Aura. I have bought some new, smaller bundles of Sage and will be burning  it when Night falls to help clear the air in my home. I love the way Sage smells when burning and charges the air with banishing smoke. I used some Guinea Fowl feathers I bought to make a fan to help the Sage bundle burn. Start the week off on a good note with a good Smudging. Smudging. When my Aunt moved she gave me an old (70's era) Tarot Cards. My 9yo Niece has been begging me to show her how to use them. She has been interested in my practices, Wicca, Witches and her current favorite movie is Hocus Pocus and her favorite TV show is Charmed. It's kind of nice to get to share these things with someone. Even if she is only nine. The bond between kinds and their Aunts can be a strong one. Anyway.....we did a few th

Coffee, Books, tumblr

Image
Apparently today was International Coffee Day or something like that. I LOVE coffee. All types of coffee too, from dark roast, lattes and cappuccinos to frappes and cold coffees. I love this time of year becasue all of the "spiced" coffee flavors come out to play! I love pumpkin and spiced pumpkin coffee is my mainstay from mid September to late January. My current favorite coffee mug is this one <3 Crazy Cat Lady Status: Certified The other day while I was shopping for salty snacks with my little brother I saw this book and squealed out loud! I fell head over heals in love with Harry Dresden when I saw the short lived TV series on SciFi back a few years ago. Found out it was based on these books and was hooked ever since! I even named my awesome Guinea Pig after the Professional Wizard. I have almost all of the books and the TV series on DVD. If you have no idea who Jim Butcher is or who Harry Dresden is I highly recommend you pick up one (or all) of his books.

Chicken Drama (plus a slightly graphic photo)

Image
Yeah your read the correctly: Chicken. Drama. So as you may know I have been doing this trial run with some Roosters a friend of mine has given me. We "lost" one of the first two but was doing really well with the remaining one. So my same awesome friend said she had some more roosters we could have; she brought over four of them. First night everything was dandy, everyone played nice and the next morning we opened the gate and let them explore. I may have been a little to confident in my chicken keeping skills because two of the new chickens would not go back into the designated chicken yard. I looked for them after dark as they are a little easier to handle then but I could not find them! So I thought well they'll just hunker down some place and I'll find them in the morning. That morning (yesterday) I get up when the Rooster Crows (literally) and go looking for the lost fowl. I could not find them. I found a pile of brown/tan feathers but no chicken matching said f

No Wi-Fi?!

That's right. I have spent 4 days with no Wi-Fi. You may be thinking: Why would anyone do this? Well I'll tell you. I have been house sitting for a family friend while she is away having surgery. I have to say the first night was the hardest lol it's crazy to think about how attached we (I) are to our social media and the internet. I kept myself busy watching the Eighth Season of Supernatural and re-runs of The Dog Whisperer but it the back of my mind I kept thinking "I need to check my email, or see who put out new videos this week on YouTube." I don't have a "smart" phone so I was basically cut of from the internet. Now that I have some Wi-Fi here at my Sisters house I feel like I have missed so much! It's a weird feeling, like being an addict. You know you want to but you can't, you think well, maybe I could go to the library or borrow some from someone. By the third day I was almost over the withdrawals....until I realized I could tak

25 Random Facts About Me

One of my favorite things to eat is Brussels Sprouts. I clean when I am angry or upset. I LOVE BBQ sauce. I rarely listen to the radio but I love music and like to get up early to watch MTV/VH1/FUSE music videos. I like all movies but don't really care for the "Saw" type. I love cheese. All kinds of cheeses. On everything. I enjoy the Paranormal. From Ghosts to Crypto but the thought of Aliens freaks me out. I prefer to watch TV in the dark. My favorite TV show off all time is Supernatural. I enjoy makeup and would ware it everyday if I could. If I can, I will take a nap in the after noon and sleep in late. I prefer salty snacks over sweet. I like to eat cake cold. I drink coffee all day long. Even in Summer. I tend to judge people on the shoes that whey ware. I can purr like a cat. My day dreams are usually about me singing in front of a crowd yet I have stage fright. I love long fingernails on women. I am obsessed with candles. I have hundreds of th

SUPERNATURAL!

Image
Oh, hi there I'm Kayla and I'm OBSESSED with the hit TV drama SUPERNATURAL. Yes all caps are necessary to inflict the emotion of how I feel about this show. Yesterday I bought Season 8 on DVD. Today this happened. Then this happened! I am like freaking out right now! I don't know how often this happens in the Twiterverse as I am relatively new to this but Holy Shit! I.....I don't know what to say other then SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Also September 13 is the Eight year anniversary of the premier of SUPERNATURAL on the CW. I have been watching from the beginning and am currently having an SPN marathon until the premier of S9 in October. Ta for now! Kayla

Spend Less September, Doodles and Autumn!

So as you may know I decided that for the month of September I would not buy useless things. Well it's only been a week and this is going to be so much harder then I thought it would be. It's like everywhere I look there are things that I want to buy; like the new Cosmo, these cute shoes that I found online and on sale. Plus about a thousand other things I see every time I go to town or online. Yard Sale abound this weekend too. Gah! Stop it with the sales already! So they say it take 20 days to learn/unlearn a habit. Here's hoping I make it to the end of the month! I am a professional dog groomer by trade and I also do some boarding. This weekend we have a little Yorkie and a Golden Retriever, Poodle mix AKA a Goldendoodle staying with us. I am a Poodle person. I LOVE Poodles and you would think anything mixed with a Poodle would be at least half as awesome as the real thing right? Wrong. I have only met a few "Doodles" in my time and I have to say....I don'

What!? WHAT!?

Image
I am a total Fangirl, have been since I was 13 and was oh so crazy out Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and the Spice Girls. I squeal out loud and proudly ware my faves across my chest or blast them from my car stereo. I enjoy being a fan. Today's Fangirl moment came from this: What!? WHAT!? I love Jimmy Fallon, since his days on SNL and in his movies. He is just awesome and funny and yeah you should be watching Late Night if you aren't already. The people who run the LNJF twitter did a short 5 minute #FF (follow friday) I never thought I would be one that they would pick to follow back! One of the main reasons I finally singed up with Twitter was to join in on the Hashtags game he plays. So for a solid minute I squealed out loud and did a silly dance. Thank you people at Late Night With Jimmy Fallon for making this FalPals day <3

Little Randoms

Well we lost one of the chickens today. I found him the the yard, not sure what happened to him though. Rest In Peace little chicken. I went to the movies on Thursday by my self and watched The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. It was actually pretty good and I hope they continue with the series. I may even have to read the books. Even though they are "young adult" they could be fun. A friend of mine posted something about making next month "No spend September". I kinda like that idea, not spending any money on unnecessary things. I just hope that ShirtPunch, Qwertee and RIPT don't come out with any awesome SPN t-shirts, cause you know I will have to get one if they are really worthy. I could make a list (I love a list) What I don't Need to Buy in Spend Less in September Make up  Candy Fast food/drinks Clothes/shoes/accessories Dog collars/bowls Movies Music Crafty things  So basically just stay at home and avoid big box stores and drive

YouTube, The VMA's and More Blogging!

First off I am obsessed with YouTube! I know I'm way late to this party but I never knew how wonderful it could be. I'd watch a few things on it sure, who hasn't? But I never really got it until I changed my email address to a gmail account. At first I was just watching music videos and then dog grooming videos but then I found makeup tutorials! I started by watching hours of the pixiwoo sisters. I had no idea how fun makeup could be or that I can do fun makeup on myself but with the help of them, Lauran Curtis, Goldie Starling, Emma Pickles and many other videos I have a new found love of makeup and of YouTube. Now it has progressed to Olan Rogers <3 ASMR videos, Tyler Okley, Jim Chatman, Crabsticks, Bunny and the Swamp family and 60+ other channel subscriptions. I love it. I really do. So much so that I thought about making videos. I even filmed a few.....but quickly realized I have a face for radio. Also that I have no life. One needs a life to talk about and I do

Chickens!

Image
I finally got a pair of chickens! I have been thinking and talking about getting some for a while now but was unsure of how our outside cats would react to them. So a friend of mine who has gorgeous chickens offered me two of her young roosters. She did not need to keep these two so she gave them to me to do a trial run of sorts to make sure the cats did not have chicken for dinner. So far so good on their first day. This big guy here figured out how to get of the little back yard, lets just hope he remembers how to get back in. I believe he is a Polish. This guy here is a little more laid back and I believe he is a Frizzled Polish. I also found this spider in the backyard! Pretty and the size of my giant hand.

Summer Time, Kids and Quarter Life Crisis?

Wow time sure does fly when your having fun.....or rather when you're so busy you forget things like blogging. Summer is upon us and it's hot, that's usually what happens in the summer and surprisingly it hasn't been melt your face off hot in the South just yet. But tis only August, we still have a month for it to turn blazing. I didn't plant a garden this year....again. I had every intention but every time I thought today is the day I would start adding up in my head how much things would cost and what I would need and I would go crazy with a list and thirty minutes later I would decide lets wait for tomorrow. As the procrastinator in me took over tomorrow never came so maybe next summer. I did however get to eat some fresh veggies. Some friends and family shared their harvest with us. Kids. Most of you know my dislike of children and that my half sister has 4 kids. Well this year they all played base/soft/T ball. So I was volunteered to shuttle around kids t

Spring is here!

It's Spring time. Where the Sun starts to warm yet the wind is still cold. Things start to bloom, baby animals are born and the tourists come out to play. For as long as I can remember I dreaded Spring, not because Spring is bad but what follows Spring just about kills me. When Summer comes the people will come out of their Winter hiding places, like ants after you step on their mound. They are everywhere. The town I live in thrives on tourists, it's a beautiful place that other people spend buckets of money to visit for the weekend. They come by the truck loads with their boats, ATV's and fishing gear. When Wal-Mart puts their "Garden Center" outdoors it's my que to stay at home. The thing I do like about Spring is all of the beautiful foliage, animals and fresh produce. I've always envied those who grew lushes gardens, with tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, peppers and all of the others. All of the neat rows of plants, the watering cans and wide brimmed h

Stars Hollow

I loved the TV series Gilmore Girls. I watched it every week and secretly wanted to live in Stars Hollow and work at the Dragonfly Inn. To have coffee at Luke's Diner and walk around the town square. I had hopes that when we moved to small town Oklahoma it would be like Stars Hollow. Ironically, places like that only exist in TV land. Or do they? I would like to believe that there is a place like that in our world. The town I live in could be like Stars Hollow....if people weren't so consumed by selfishness. I try to go to every chamber/main street event in my town and the town that's not 10 minutes away. I donate what I can, when I can, to just about everything that is out there. I don't make a lot of money, in fact I barely make enough to scrape by, yet I still try to give. There are a lot of people in our small community that can give so much yet won't give, cause a fuss or think they are above it all. No place is perfect I get that but what I don't underst

A Ticket for One

I am a movie junkie. I love going to the movies and watching them at home. But nothing beats going to the theater; it's dark and that large screen just pulls me right in. I go almost every weekend and will even watch the same movie twice if I really like it. I have a pretty substantial DVD collection and have watched all of them over and over again. I'll watch just about anything other then "scary" movies but even then it just depends on what it's about. Mostly I prefer romance, comedy, action or any mix there of. Some of my faves are The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Bourne, New Guy, The Shooter, Practical Magic, Hocus Pocus, My Best Friends Girl, Ten Inch Hero, 21 Jump Street and many, many more. I love being able to get lost in a film and just forget about everything for those couple of hours. I always walk away from a movie with a smile on my face and a sense of....fullness...in my Soul. For me, movies are like books. I can get lost over and over again

Weight A Minute!

It's the New Year and everywhere you look there are facebook ads, TV commercials and Pinterest posts urging you to loose weight, get in shape and get that perfect six pack. I admit I am over weight. Not in a "I need to loose ten pounds" over weight but in a "I may qualify for gastric surgery". I've been "plus size" my entire life, I've been made fun of, laughed at and bullied because of how much I weight. Over the years I have come to see that no matter what you look like someone out there will not like you. Dita Von Teese put it beautifully when she said "You can be the sweetest peach out there yet there will always be someone who does not like peaches." So this year I set my self up to succeed. I don't want to loose weight so more people will like me. I want to be healthy. I also want to ware cute shoes but that's a little vain so lets just stick with being healthy. So far I have lost almost 10 pounds, which is awesome.

Fifty Shades of What Now?

I admit it, I read (or rather mostly read) the first book; Fifty Shades of Grey. I honestly did not like it. It wasn't the poorly visualized sex scenes or even the bad writing, it is was all the hype over it. What I have concluded is that women are so drawn to these books because we want a man to take control. To push us up against the wall and kiss us like you damn well mean it. To be desired, to be craved, to be able to get a man to the edge by just being ourselves. Most of us want a man to open doors, hold our hand and then devour us in the bedroom. What also bothered me is that this type of book is nothing new. Have people forgotten about Romance Novels? People scoffed and made fun of woman in the 90's who went to books signing for Fabio. It was common to see a paperback in every house wife's hand bag. My mother, gran and half sister have been reading Romance Novels for as long as I can remember. I myself have been reading "romance" novels since I was sixt
