Spring is here!
It's Spring time. Where the Sun starts to warm yet the wind is still cold. Things start to bloom, baby animals are born and the tourists come out to play. For as long as I can remember I dreaded Spring, not because Spring is bad but what follows Spring just about kills me. When Summer comes the people will come out of their Winter hiding places, like ants after you step on their mound. They are everywhere.
The town I live in thrives on tourists, it's a beautiful place that other people spend buckets of money to visit for the weekend. They come by the truck loads with their boats, ATV's and fishing gear. When Wal-Mart puts their "Garden Center" outdoors it's my que to stay at home.
The thing I do like about Spring is all of the beautiful foliage, animals and fresh produce. I've always envied those who grew lushes gardens, with tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, peppers and all of the others. All of the neat rows of plants, the watering cans and wide brimmed hats. The Pagan in me begs every year to plant a garden and every year She cries because I can not grow....anything. In a bucket or in the ground, in a planter or a window box every time it never makes it.
This year though I am bound and determined to have a garden. With my new obsession with Pinterest and all the crap you can look up on the internet I'm going to let my inner Pagan loose and try to grow....anything. I have a plan (I like to plan things) to hae a small raised garden with veggies and a window box with herbs in it.
Maybe this is the year I will welcome Summer with a smile instead of a frown, maybe this year I'll have my own grown hers in my pantry and fresh food to eat every night. Yes, this will be my year to grow....as long as the Ants stay in the mountains and leave me and my little garden alone.
